Auld Ridge - "For Death and Glory, to the Gods I Cry" CD
This album is a monument of uncompromising ferocious, majestic and melodic Black Metal filled with folk passages that Auld Ridge is now notorious for.
Drawing inspiration from both Scandinavian and British heritage, "For Death and Glory, to the Gods I Cry" explores historical battles such as Rastarkalv and Stamford Bridge as well as fictional accounts of pre-roman Britain.
The first two long form songs explore the former Scandinavian heritage, tales of journeys over vast seas and battles on distant shores as well as the more grounded struggles of a people eking life out of a harsh landscape.
The last two songs explore fictionalised accounts of a celtic and pre-roman Britain. A people struggling to defend their shores and maintain their old ways, fighting to the last to preserve their culture.
In either context, one has to look to the past with reverence for those that fought valiantly for death and glory.
CD limited to 300 copies.
